Divorce Spousal Support Calculator:
An Alimony Formula Resource
* DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
We have provided this calculator to both educate and
assist the public. Because the calculation of
alimony can be difficult and fact-specific we suggest
that you consult with an attorney when using this
calculator. Whether you are a layperson or an
attorney, please do not hesitate to call either
Attorney Scott Stevenson at (781) 741-5000 or Attorney
Justin Kelsey at (508) 655-5980 to discuss the correct
use of the calculator. You can also learn
more about us and our firms by visiting our
websites:
When using the calculator please
keep in mind the following:
- The formulas presented
below assume no child support and insufficient
assets for an alimony buyout.
- These formulas are
provided as guidelines and should not be
substituted for critical analysis of the facts of
each individual case by qualified counsel.
- There
is not currently any formula enacted or endorsed by
the Massachusetts Legislature.
- The amount of alimony is
dependent on the consideration of many factors (as
described in M.G.L. c. 208 Section 34).
- Nevertheless, these formulas have proven to
be a valuable resource in helping parties
understand a reasonable potential range of
spousal support orders.
- The sources for each formula are referenced
in the accompanying article which can be
accessed by clicking below.
